The Nanaimo Arts Council is pleased to welcome Thora Howell, Nanaimo-based literary event organizer and a fixture in the local writing community, to present the March 14th monthly Creative Current session on Nanaimo’s Literary Community at the Harbourftont Library meeting room at 2:00.

Framed photos of Nanaimo based writers hang in the meeting room with an introduction by Thora stating “The writers of Nanaimo, through their fiction, poetry, drama, history, biography and non-fiction, give us stories that enhance understanding of the complexities of our lives, our world, and our history.”

Thora says of her presentation: “Nanaimo has been and continues to be a hotbed of literary activity. Nationally and internationally recognized writers live in our community and write works that are grounded in West Coast culture. Together we will explore the stories of many of these remarkable writers and their books. As part of our exploration we will be examining the factors that foster creativity in this community. Joining us will be some of the writers who will read from their works.”

Admission is free. To register phone the Nanaimo Arts Council at 250-729-3947 before March 13th.
