Alberta Leads Canada In Jobs Creation

79,500 New Jobs In 2011
34,400 In Calgary Region

Statistics Canada numbers show that once again Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba are the best places to find work these days. Albertas unemployment rate is 4.9%, Sask. is 5.0% and Manitoba is third at 5.4%. British Columbia trails at 6.9%.

An article in the Calgary Herald has the following quote:

“I’m finding the job search is taking less time than it would normally take. A lot of my clients are finding work much quicker,” said Eileen Dooley, career coach and team lead at Cam McRae Consulting, an outplacement and career coaching agency in Calgary. “Usually a job search can take anywhere from three to six, eight months. Averaging about two I’m seeing now. Definitely a good time.

According to the same article Alberta has created 79,500 new jobs in 2011 with 34.400 of those jobs being in the Calgary region.

While it might be clear why you would chose to live in Nanaimo; if you are in the unfortunate position of having to rely on social assistance and food banks to keep body and soul together, it might be wise to take a look at the other three western provinces which for the time being are clearly a place where you are more likely to find work.

  2. VI not sure what you mean? The other day I met a young fellow and his dog sitting in front of a local department store, needing some financial help.
He had come to Vancouver Island from Manitoba because he had heard there were lots of construction jobs on the island where he could of course avoid the Manitoba winter.
He had been up and down the island, and was now trying to fund his return to Manitoba.
The truth is the truth, and unlike some other media, I don't think it needs varnishing......

  3. You can't argue with economic reality! In order to survive you gotta work and in order to work you gotta go where the jobs are.
