Hydro and ICBC Collecting Taxes?

Government grabs $942 Million from Hydro
Another $1.2 Billion from ICBC

That is the headline story in the Times Colonist as they investigate just how much money the provincial government siphons from Crown corporations. This raises a fundamental question about whether this deceptive means of collecting taxes should be allowed.

If the corporations are having to raise rates, and they are, while at the same time forking over excess cash to the government, aren't they just conveniently allowing the government to pretend they are not raising taxes as much as they really are?

To read the complete article use this link to the TC story. Remember we are facing increases this year from both of these Crown corporations.
