Nanaimo Property Tax Estimator Online

The property tax estimator is now online on the city of Nanaimo website HERE. For the purpose of comparison I used the estimator for a house with an assessed value of $350,000.00 in the years 2011 and 2012. The estimated increase in taxes would be $132.97.

Using the same estimator if a house assessed at $350,000 in 2011 had decreased to $325,000 the taxes would decrease by $85.25. On the other hand a house assessed at $350,000 in 2011 with an assessed value of $375,000 in 2012 would see a tax increase of $351.19. So clearly it is not all that easy to say what the 'average' tax increase will be across the city as it depends not only on your assessed value but how your assessed value lines up in relation to the average assessed value across the entire city. Confused?? So am I. :^)
