Nanaimo Unemployment Highest On Island
Once again Nanaimo has the dubious distinction of having the highest unemployment rate on Vancouver Island climbing up to 7.5% in July from 6.1% in June of this year.
As the statistics bureau has proven in the past, their numbers are not infallible nor does one month make a trend, nevertheless an increase in unemployment of over 1% in one month deserves some attention.
I have noticed in the past that when the unemployment numbers go down, politicians of all stripes are quick to take credit for the improvement, but when the numbers go up there is never a peep from our `leaders`.
