Santa Claus Parade Cancelled This Year
There just doesn't seem to have been enough support this year for the downtown Santa Claus parade, so the Liion's Club has cancelled the parade this year. It could be a sign of the economic times or maybe community and business support for this once major seasonal event has gone the way of many traditions. It takes a lot of community support to put on a worthwhile parade with the business community stepping up and putting together floats that will attract crowds and also a small army of volunteers to pull the whole thing together.
The Lion's Club is challenged like many other organizations which have an aging membership and while there always seems to be lots of community participation when it comes to enjoying these events there are fewer and fewer people who have the time to make them happen.
