Nanaimo Prices Still Highest!
If you are heading south, wait and fill up at Ruckledge's Store at Morden Road and the Island Highway where you will find gas for 118.9. While they are not technically 'in' Nanaimo if you need a full tank of gas it is probably worth your time to fill up there, rather than continuing to support the 'Nanaimo Gas Cartel' who seem to continue to gouge Nanaimo drivers.
I still haven't been able to find out just how many owners operate the gas stations across Nanaimo. I have heard that as many as 20 stations may be owned by the same company or person. If that is the case you have to wonder whether there are any real competitive forces at work in this market.
Perhaps someone should lobby Costco to put in fuel pumps at the Nanaimo store, they certainly seem to be a positive force in Comox who have enjoyed the lowest prices all year.
Hmm, isn't this price fixing called a cartel?
