School Threats Result In Student Arrest

An 18 year old student at a senior secondary school in Nanaimo has been arrested for making unspecified threats directed towards the school.

On Tuesday April 11, Nanaimo RCMP were advised by school officials of the threats and determined there were sufficient grounds to arrest the male. Investigators attended to his home last night and arrested him without incident. The male is currently in police custody.

Investigators do not believe any other students were involved and have advised administrators of the school and School District Staff. RCMP School Liaison Officers will be at the school throughout the day to reassure students, staff and parents and answer any questions or concerns that may arise. The investigation is continuing.
