Reasons to NOT Top Trees

Thinking About Topping A Tree?
Think Again!

Before you decide to have that large tree on your property topped you want to check out the information provided by the City of Nanaimo.

Among reasons listed for not topping a tree are ugliness, tree death, weaker limbs, the cost and becoming more insect and disease prone.

A properly pruned tree can accomplish your goal of topping, but with considerably fewer risks. It does however, take more time and skill on the part of the arborist than topping does. However the results are much more favorable.

As the website points out in some cases it makes more sense to remove a troublesome tree and replace it rather that taking the top off and dealing with the ensuing problems in years to come.
