Nanaimo's Official Floral Emblem

Nanaimo's New Flower

Nanaimo City Council nearly unanimously voted to adopt the rare flower as the city's floral emblem. The rare flower is considered endangered in Canada and the Harewood plains area supports nearly 1500 of the approximate 1800 plants in all of Canada.

The recognition does not provide any practical protection for the plant which is currently put in danger resulting from people riding all terrain vehicles on the Harewood plains.
