Smythe Appointed New Chamber CEO

 Kim Smythe
Chamber of Commerce CEO
After two months of filling in as temporary Chamber CEO, local businessman Kim Smythe has been appointed as the new head of the Nanaimo Chamber of Commerce.

During the past few months, the Chamber has been engaged in a job search to fill the vacancy when previous CEO Susan Allen took a position at VIU.

Smythe had been initially involved in the hiring process but a few weeks into the interim position he stepped back and decided to apply for the position himself.

In recent times the Chamber has been somewhat vocal about local planning and governance issues within the city of Nanaimo. It will be interesting to see what direction the new CEO steers the local Chamber.
