Nanaimo City Council Byelection This Spring

Vacant Council Seat To Be Filled

With the passing of long time councilor Larry McNabb, Nanaimo voters will be required to elect a new councillor to fill the vacancy. The Local Government Act requires the byelection as Larry passed away outside the calendar year of the upcoming election.

The byelection which is expected to cost between $100,000 and $150,000 will be one of the first priorities for staff returning from the Christmas Holiday break. The actual cost and date for the byelection are not known at this time but the election is expected to take place in the early Spring.
