Ten Minutes After The Parade

You Could Shoot A Cannon
Down The Street

In spite of the rain, the Empire Days Parade still brought thousands of people downtown for the family fun event Sunday afternoon. As those in attendance are aware, the rain stopped just in time and the rest of the day, while a little overcast was still quite pleasant.

The point of the above pictures? The parade brought thousands of people downtown, but it seems that 'keeping' them downtown after the event is a challenge for local merchants.

Just throwing more money at attracting conventions and cruise ships (which may or may not come) is not going to be a final answer for sustained downtown revitalization.
