GABRIOLA CYCLE FASTEST ON EARTH

HUMAN POWERED VEHICLE
CLOCKED AT 132.5 KM/HR

Artist/inventor Gabriola resident George Georgiev's bullet shaped Diablo III broke his own world record he set seven years ago.

The record was set during the Ninth World Human Powered Speed Challenge at Battle Mountain Nevada.

Georgiev's company Varna Speedcycle has been producing unique two and three wheeled cycles on his Gabriola acreage since 1992 and has customers worldwide. His cycles are made from ultra light and ultra strong materials such as carbon fibre and Kevlar.

His enclosed high speed bikes sell worldwide and have fetched as much as $17,500 in Europe where cycling is more widely accepted than in North America. His company does make much less expensive and more practical cycles selling for a few thousand dollars.
