The Nanaimo RCMP Municipal Traffic members are doing their part to ensure our roads and highways are safe of speeding after another four drivers were cited for excessive speed yesterday.

The vehicles ticketed , three motorcycles and one car, were stopped while traveling south bound on the Trans Canada Highway near the Duke Point on ramp. The four were impounded for seven days when they were stopped for going in excess of 40 km/hr over the speed limit. Two of the motorcycles were clocked on radar at 147 km/hr and 146 km/hr in a marked 90 km/hr zone. In addition to having their vehicles impounded, each driver received a violation ticket with a fine of $368.00. Under the Dangerous Driving Program, drivers who receive an excessive speeding ticket can be faced with an additional $320.00 fine each year fo the next three years.
