Federal Funding Upgrades Mill's Performance

Harmac Gets $4.31 Million Aid

It is nice to see the Federal gravy train stop in Nanaimo every now and then and yesterday was a good day for Nanaimo's Harmac pulp mill.
MPs James Lunney and Gary Lunn were on hand to announce the fact Harmac is receiving $4.31 million which will be used to make the mill more energy efficient and improve environmental standards.

The funding was the first payment of a total $27 million the Federal government has set aside for Harmac under the Green Transformation Fund. The funds are being used to improve the efficiency of Harmac's pulp machines resulting in the use of less natural gas to dry out the raw product.

In order to benefit from the entire $27 million funding work has to be complete by the fall of 2011.
