Each spring for 26 years, Nanaimo Art Gallery has organized Festival of Banners, which has become a beloved tradition and an important community project. In April, professional artists and amateur painters from every corner of Nanaimo – students, parents, teachers, seniors and you – come together to create beautiful one-of-a-kind works of art to enliven and add vibrancy to our city streets. Between 150 and 400 banners are created each year, depending on our level of funding.
Participate
Have you ever experienced the thrill of seeing your own artwork on display? It's unforgettable! Join us and participate in Festival of Banners 2013. Download and print our Festival Entry Form. Create an imaginative, original design based on our 2013 theme Creative City, and submit it to the Gallery with your completed entry form and $10 fee.
Our project coordinator will contact you to schedule a time to paint. All painting will happen in April at Nanaimo North Town Centre. Banners are installed on lamp standards in mid-May!
