Nanaimo Harbour Continues As 'Working' Harbour

The 'Character' Of Our Harbour
Will Remain For This Summer At Least

With the news that PNMG have decided not to renew their MOU which would have seen them enter into a thirty year lease of the inner harbour it appears that for this summer at least, the inner harbour will remain unchanged.

It will remain to be seen how the NPA is now going to deal with the aging docks which we were told they were unable to maintain due to financial difficulties. Currently there is one dock that is closed, being deemed unsafe earlier this year.

Unfortunately one victim of this whole little drama was the annual boat show that was featured in the harbour in June in years past.

  1. there can only be on reason for a the NPA financial difficulties is poor management, that being said, I would suggest that the current management be replaced immediately by one or more of the people that have already demonstrated their knowledge and leadership capabilities. Anyone who has taken the grade 11 commerce program in high school should be able to manage the financial aspects of the running of our port.
