RCMP Broaden Public Warning

Warning Not Restricted To Ladysmith

Investigators from the Ladysmith RCMP, and the Island District RCMP General Investigation Section remain committed to their ongoing investigation into the September 26th Ladysmith home invasion and sexual assault. The team of investigators have spent hundreds of hours gathering and examining various pieces of evidence, as they work towards identifying the man responsible for this attack.

"Our team of investigators have made significant progress over the last 14 days", states Cpl. Darren Lagan of the Vancouver Island RCMP. "As they work towards identifying the man responsible, we urge the public to remain vigilant about their home security, and personal safety."

This warning from police is not limited to the Ladysmith area, or Vancouver Island. "Our investigators are examining the possibility that this man is not a local resident", says Cpl. Lagan. "Until such time as we identify, locate and arrest him, we are not in a position to speculate on his whereabouts. For that reason, we are broadening our public warning, and re-issuing the suspect sketch."

Anyone with information on this man's identity is urged to call their local police or Crimestoppers, at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

He is described as:

  • Caucasian male with a darker complexion
  • Approximately 5'8" to 6' tall (amended)
  • Short, dark hair
  • In his early 20's
  • Fit, slim build
  • Clothing: dark colored t-shirt (with printed pattern on the chest), blue jeans, sneakers, green colored hoodie sweatshirt
