World Town Planning Day

Nanaimo City Hosts Event

While I must say the planning department did a lousy job in planning the weather for the World Town Planning Day event, it was still an enjoyable introduction to a part of Nanaimo that many people may not know.

There were downtown walking tours which highlighted some of the downtown Nanaimo heritage buildings as well as gave visitors a lesson in local history.

The city planning department were set up in the lobby of the Nanaimo Museum where a modest number of people were able to sample a free Nanaimo bar and coffee while they chatted with staff about now Nanaimo has evolved over the years.

Unless you have been living in a cave somewhere, by now you will know Nanaimo's Commercial Street was honored as the Best Street in Canada. I may have missed it, but I don't remember seeing our plaque and certificate.
