Acting Auditor General Appointed In British Columbia

VICTORIA – Coralee Oakes, Minister of Community Sport and Cultural Development, released the following statement today regarding the appointment of an acting auditor general for local government (AGLG).

“Today I have accepted a recommendation by the Audit Council to appoint Arn van Iersel, CPA-FCGA, as acting auditor general for local government.

“van Iersel is an accomplished professional. He has served previously as comptroller general of British Columbia and acting auditor general of British Columbia.

“van lersel has accepted the role of acting auditor general for local government.

“I am confident that this appointment will bring stability to the office and provide strong leadership during the transition period.

“In addition, a review of the Office of the Auditor General for Local Government’s operating structure and processes, led by Chris Trumpy, is also underway. The review process will help to build an effective office that is accountable to government and the taxpayers of British Columbia.”
