The Honourable Stéphane Dion will step down as Liberal Leader
OTTAWA —The Honourable Stéphane Dion announced today that he will step down as Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada once a new leader is elected at the Liberal Party of Canada’s Leadership and Biennial Convention, to be held in 2009.Mr. Dion will continue in his role as Liberal Leader and Leader of the Official Opposition until such time to ensure a timely and smooth transition for the party.
