NANAIMO COUGAR SIGHTING

COUGAR HAS DEER FOR DINNER
ON SHERIFF WAY IN DEPARTURE BAY AREA

A Sheriff Way mother wants others to be aware of a cougar in their area after what she witnessed on Saturday evening.

At about 11:30 pm she saw a cougar kill and eat a deer in front of her Sheriff Way home. Her four young children and house cat were all safely inside at the time of the sighting.

With the abundance of deer in the area local conservation authorities are not overly concerned with the occasional cougar sighting.

If you spot a cougar and have concern for the safety of people or pets in the area you can call the wildlife hot line at 1-800-663-9453.
