HARMAC IS BACK UP AND RUNNING

HARMAC PULP MILL BACK IN PRODUCTION

For the first time since May of this year the pulp line at Harmac will be producing it's first finished pulp bundle by sometime this evening.

The mill was started back up yesterday morning at 7:00 am with about 200 workers back at their longtime jobs.

It is reported that Harmac has a five year contract for 100% of it's pulp production and chances are good a second line will be started up early next year.

This is good news for Nanaimo, and even better news for the families affected by the mill closure. This is a unique operating situation with the employees having a stake in the company and industry watchers will be looking closely to see how it works out.

Good on 'ya guys!
