The Times Colonist reports DFO has called off the commercial roe herrying fishery in Barclay Sound near Port Alberni, saying there was poor egg quality in the test fishery.
Five First Nations had been prepared to block the commercial fishery in an attempt to prevent over-fishing in a sensitive area.
