HELPING BC BUSINESSES

BIDS WITHOUT BORDERS:
BC BID EXPANDS SERVICE

Nanaimo businesses could benefit from broader base governement bid website.

British Columbia businesses now have easier access to even more procurement opportunities via BC Bid, Labour and Citizens’ Services Minister Iain Black announced today.

“We’re making Alberta government bid notices available directly on the BC Bid website,” said Black. “This instant and direct access to opportunities beyond the British Columbia border will help our suppliers expand their market and grow their businesses.”

When browsing for opportunities on the BC Bid website, suppliers can now see details of procurement opportunities available on the Alberta Purchasing Connection website, maintained by the Province of Alberta. With the addition of Alberta purchasing opportunities, the number of notices available on BC Bid will increase by over 30 per cent.

“BC Bid has become a powerful tool to alert British Columbia’s entrepreneurs to the demand for their products and services,” said Small Business and Revenue Minister Kevin Krueger. “I’m pleased they will now have even better information from outside our province.”

Since 1996, BC Bid has been the central site for tenders and bids for the provincial government and the broader public sector. In the 12 years since it went online, more than 40,000 opportunities have been posted

The service is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week at www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca.
