Island Ferry Services Ltd. will not be meeting their March 31st start date as they are still waiting to secure the last portion of needed financing.
David Marshall, Operations Director with IFSL says they are quite hopeful their application with the Federal Government will result in the needed financing to finalize the project. Once financing is in place it will take six months to become fully operational meaning now it is looking like a fall start for the downtown Nanaimo to downtown Vancouver foot ferry service.
The lease agreement in place with the city did require IFSL to be up and running by March 31 which means a new agreement will have to be negotiated with the city.
