Dale Schulz 'Nanaimo' "As he sees it" - June 16

Lifelong Nanaimo resident, professional artist and illustrator Dale Schulz 'sees' much of Nanaimo many of us simply walk by without giving a second thought.

Through the eyes of an artist the everyday can become almost magical and with a few simple photos of his daily walks, Dale captures and shares some of that magic on his Facebook page.

The following is the most recent example of what Dale sees when he walks about our lovely seaside community many of us just take for granted.

Dale's Post - June 16/16

I wasn't sure I'd get out and get any photos today - but Indy needs his walks and I need mine too - even with a cold. We tried to take it easy, resting a lot and I may have sweated out some of this bug. I feel slightly better today.

I spotted an ‪#‎abandonedchair‬ near the tracks on 5th Street, I think it is the one Indy sniffed out in the grass on Park Avenue a couple days ago. Someone has moved it a few blocks and abandoned it again.

Downtown on Commercial Street I shot the Ashlar Lodge (the Masonic Temple) and at the waterfront 'The Masts' - this is where Indy and I stop for coffee and treats almost every day!

Spotted a rowboat coming in to the dock near there and then took a few assorted shots on the waterfront - two feature the high-rise on Cameron Island and the Lighthouse Bistro - one shows how low the tide was this morning - one of Mt. Benson and the last showing an (always) impatient Indy wanting to keep walking!
