Single detached housing starts in Nanaimo were unchanged in May with 35 in 2015 and 35 in 2016 while multi-family units increased from 33 in 2015 to 44 in 2016 resulting in a combined total of 79 units in 2016 as opposed to 68 units in 2015.
Year-to-date totals show an decrease of 4 single family units from 173 in 2015 to 169 in 2016. Multi-family dwellings decreased from 234 units in 2015 to 150 units in 2016. Combined totals for 2015 were 407 compared with 319 for 2016.
