Dale Schulz - Nanaimo - "As He Sees It" - June 7/16

Lifelong Nanaimo resident, professional artist and illustrator Dale Schulz 'sees' much of Nanaimo many of us simply walk by without giving a second thought.

Through the eyes of an artist the everyday can become almost magical and with a few simple photos of his daily walks, Dale captures and shares some of that magic on his Facebook page.

The following is the most recent example of what Dale sees when he walks about our lovely seaside community many of us just take for granted.

Dale's Post - June 7/16
Indy and I had a very nice walk today - Indy got to visit with a lot of human and dog friends and I was able to get a few shots though the sun is a little bright for my liking photography-wise.

On Victoria Road I took a picture of some beautiful purple flowers growing outside a fence, and some beautiful old green paint on a house on the corner of Victoria Rd. and Finlayson Street.

Downtown on Commercial Street I took a shot of one of the new 'Parklets'. I'm wondering if they will be painting this in some bright colours - even though the white is a good contrast to the myriad of colour and texture on the street.

At Maffeo Sutton Park I took a couple shots of the 'Black Frank' statue - one inspired by a shot by my friend Mike Thompson.

As we headed home up Albert Street we paused at one of my favourite little outdoor 'galleries'. A creative gardener paints these rocks and places them in the little boulevard garden. They change a lot because unfortunately people steal them often.
