A Great Nanaimo Tradition Thanks To Hundreds of Volunteers!
The 147th annual Empire Days Parade would not be such a great event were it not for the countless hours donated by a nameless army of volunteers who give of their time to bring this popular event for all to enjoy.
Not only does the Empire Days Parade kick-off the official summer/tourist season in Nanaimo but it is without doubt the most popular, best attended FREE - FUN - FAMILY event in the heart of downtown Nanaimo.
Those attending the parade know they need to arrive early as usually every piece of sidewalk and curb is occupied from Victoria Cresent all the way up Commercial Street and along Front Street.
Hats off to the men and women of the Empire Days Society and the Nanaimo Lion's Club for their tireless, and mostly thankless effort putting together this much anticipated annual event. Bravo!
