Nanaimo Empire Days Week Proclaimed 2014

Empire Days Society members witness proclamation by Mayor Ruttan

Members of the Nanaimo Empire Days Society were on hand at Pioneer Plaza as Mayor John Ruttan read the official proclamation:

WHEREAS: this year marks the 147th time that Nanaimo has celebrated Queen Victoria's birthday with a week of events ranging from visiting Navy vessels, parades and the May Queen crowning pageant; and,

WHEREAS: many visitors from Vancouver Island, the Mainland and Northwest United States will be in town for the week of festivities.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, John Ruttan, Mayor of the City of Nanaimo, do hereby proclaim the week of May 12 - 18, 2014 be known as:

"NANAIMO EMPIRE DAYS WEEK"
