Two days ago I had an dirty, oily looking pigeon come into our feeder. He was obviously still able to fly but looked the mess. After filling his crop with seeds he did finally fly off. The next day he also showed up, looking a little bit better for wear by still clearly dirty.
Today my wife saw a crow in the area of the hospital which also seemed to have oil on it. There is a report of some ducks in a pond in Surrey needing to be cleaned up after oil somehow got into their pond, but I doubt the birds seen locally would have any connection.
If anyone else has seen birds looking like they have taken a bath in oily water please post here.
