Single detached housing starts in Nanaimo decreased in October from 44 in 2014 to 32 in 2015 while multi-family units decreased from 46 in 2014 to 15 in 2015 resulting in a combined total of 47 units in 2015 as opposed to 90 units in 2014.

Year to date single detached increased from 278 in 2014 to 327 in 2015, multi-family increased from 259 in 2014 to 419 in 2015 for a combined total of 746 in 2015 from 537 units in 2014 representing a 39% increase .
