Protection Island Ferry Goes To Newcastle

The Protection Island Ferry is apparently offering service to Newcastle Island in the wake of the Nanaimo Harbour Ferry stopping service.

The following is posted on the Snuneymuxw facebook page:

NOTICE - NEWCASTLE ISLAND FERRY SERVICE

We are pleased to announce that Protection Island Ferries will be providing service to Newcastle Island on a temporary basis.

The ferry to Newcastle Island is running on a modified schedule:
Starting on Newcastle Dock 9:00 A.M. every hour on hour to 7:00 P.M. last ferry off Island.

Cost(s):
$5 each way for 7 yrs. to 64 yrs. of age
Free under 6 years old and seniors over 65
No charge for pets and bikes

The first ferry will leave the Newcastle dock and arriving at Maffeo dock approximately half past the hour, the last ferry leaving the Newcastle Island dock will vary depending on overflows. There will be no direct service from Newcastle to Protection Island.

We appreciate your patience with this temporary service and are sorry for any inconvenience.
