Downtown Nanaimo Parklet Project

Parklets are intended to be 'people places'

You will notice what promises to be one more popular amenity to be enjoyed in downtown Nanaimo. 123 Commercial Street is the location of Nanaimo's first 'Parklet' which makes space otherwise occupied by a vehicle into an enticing people-friendly space which invites travellers to stop a spell.

This particular parklet has two components with one side being a patio seating extension of 2 Chefs Affair during regular business hours while the second half is intended to be used as any other city park would be used.

This project has been a collaborative effort of the Downtown Nanaimo Business Improvement Association, the City of Nanaimo and a host of local businesses who brought the design of Architect Mark Ashby to life. The lead contractor on the job Knappett Projects took about two weeks to complete the Parklet from start to finish.

It is a colorful and welcome addition to downtown Nanaimo which promises to become a popular people-place over the coming sunny and warm summer months.
