It seems like only a few months ago that we saw the last Van Isle 360 leaving Nanaimo harbour on a race that circumnavigates Vancouver Island and should see racers returning to Nanaimo on June 19 - 20.
Saturday morning will see a cash pancake breakfast put on by the Salvation Army. From then until race time visitors will be treated to an informal sail past with an introduction of boats, emceed by the Race Committee.
The race starts at 10:30 am and the first leg of the race is the 37.7 NM trip to Comox with midnight being the time limit.
This is always quite a spectacle and if you haven't seen it, I encourage you to drop down to the inner harbour early Saturday morning and be sure to bring your camera and a spare battery.
