Demolish Buildings Within Sixty Days

Owners of property given 60 days to demolish

Two people addressed city council acting as property managers on behalf of the owners of the property in question on Terminal Ave,, Mt. Benson and Bryden. They were asking council to grant them another six months to demolish these properties.

The owners had taken out a demolition order in June of last year and have done nothing except fence off the buildings which have become used by squatters with mattresses and signs of drug use being apparent. To quote Councillor Kipp, the place is a mess.

The people appearing before Council explained they had just been hired to manage the property and would see the property was secured and boarded up. They hoped that assurance would buy them the six months extension the owner was seeking but council reluctantly did grant them 60 days rather than the 30 days staff had recommended.

If they have not undertaken the demolition within the time frame, the City or it's agents will demolish the buildings at the owner's expense.
