Nanaimo City Council July 13/15

Welcome Change in Atmosphere

The July 13th Council meeting started off with a noticeable change in attitude among some on Council. It began with Mayor McKay holding out an olive branch to members of the gallery by apologizing for his statement that only 40 people were still actively interested in the Colliery Dams.

His apology was followed by one from Councillor Yoachim and Kipp with both making reference to what had been seen as defaming the city solicitor with reference to his win/loss record. It set the tone for a much improved air of respectful debate you would expect from our city council.

Of note was a slight change in seating arrangements with Councillor Pratt now occupying the position to the immediate left of Mayor McKay, previously occupied by Councillor Kipp.
