Beban Pool & Weight Room Reopen Sept. 8

"We are really excited about the new spray and play features that replaced the boat in the leisure pool. Come and check out the fresh look of the pool!" - Damon Johnston Assistant Manager, Aquatics City of Nanaimo

Work done in the pool this year included implementing an Energy Conservation Measure to use excess heat from the adjacent Ammonia Plant to help heat the main pool along with the addition of a Domestic Hot Water storage tank for Frank Crane Arena, new spray and play features to the Leisure Pool and a water filling bottle station in the Beban Pool Lobby.

The steam generator for the steam room, sand for the Leisure Pool filtration system and the hot water coil for the main pool Air Handling Unit were also replaced. The ceiling in the leisure pool was repainted a light shade of blue and the pumps and hot water valves underwent general maintenance.

Four new strength machines as well as a new strength quad tower went into the weight room.

Beban Park pool and weight room will reopen Tuesday, September 8 with extended hours for the duration of the maintenance shutdown at Nanaimo Aquatic Centre.

All facilities will be closed on Monday, September 7 for Labour Day. Lifeguard will be on duty at Westwood Lake.

Nanaimo Aquatic Centre will close for annual maintenance from September 7 through to September 28.
