Summer just would not be complete without a trip to Parksville to see their Sand Sculpting Competition (aka Sandcastle competition).
Of course almost all of the sand sculptures have nothing to do with sandcastles, or castles of any kind for that matter, however this year's winner was a magnificent sand castle indeed! The detail was absolutely extraordinary!
That said some of the structures constructed out on the sand by the non-professional division were just as awe inspiring. Extra points have to be given for cuteness to the non-professionals which none of the professionals could possibly match.
Every summer I wonder why Nanaimo was never able to host an international sand sculpting event, and then I remember "We Don't Have Any Sandy Beaches" .
