Ryan James TRUCKLE Jailed After Flight From Police

Truckle Evades Police
But Freedom Short Lived

When three police vehicles are approaching with their lights and sirens activated, the best course of action is to pull over and stop. Not so for a Nanaimo man yesterday who landed himself in jail after attempting to evade the officers and lead them on a high speed pursuit.

Yesterday afternoon around 1 PM officers saw Ryan James TRUCKLE, who they know to be a prohibited driver, operating a motorcycle in the Dunster Rd area. The information was quickly shared between officers and as they moved in towards his location, he accelerated past the police vehicles. One more attempt was made, this time, a police van pulled across the roadway. Although it slowed him down momentarily , he simply braked hard and maneuvered around the van and continued accelerating in the opposite direction.

Officers decided at this point to not pursue the driver after considering the speeds involved and risk to the public. As luck would have it, approximately one hour later , other officers once again spotted TRUCKLE in a vehicle going south bound on Highway 19 near the Harewood Mines overpass. Officers moved in ,stopped the vehicle and arrested him without incident. The driver of the vehicle was allowed to carry on.

Ryan James TRUCKLE, age 27, of Nanaimo faces one count of Flight from Police, one count of Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle, three counts of Driving While Prohibited and two counts of Breach of Recognizance. The breach charges stem from previous charges presently before the courts. It is expected TRUCKLE will be remanded into custody after appearing before a Nanaimo Provincial court judge today.
