Music & Poetry Saturday Feb. 13 - Port Theatre
Music and Poetry: Vancouver Island Symphony
with special guest Shane Koyczan
7:30pm at the Port Theatre
You might
think you do not know Shane, but we are pretty sure you have heard him. Let us
give you the run down on this amazing poet… he blew us away at the Opening
Ceremonies for the 2010 Winter Olympics with his “We are More” - a stirring
ode to Canada. In early 2013, the world took notice again when Shane’s
influential, anti-bullying, “To This Day” video went viral… over 14 million
views and counting!
You will experience Shane’s thoughtful words – he
covers a variety of topics. One moment he could be talking about issues in the
USA and the very next he could be talking about his cat. One thing for sure, the
beautiful pieces of music that Vancouver Island Symphony’s Artist Director,
Pierre Simard, has chosen will make for a night to remember - some word-music
encounters will be amazing, some will be provoking, some will be surprising,
some might even be awkward... But the whole experience will be absolutely
unique.
