Cigarette Butt Ignites Bush Fire

Bowen and Northfield Road Scene Of Fire
What Is the IQ of the Average Smoker?

Nanaimo Fire Rescue crews responded to a fire in the brush near 2147 Bowen Road which had been started by a tossed cigarette butt.

It is almost beyond comprehension that you have to remind people to not throw a lit cigarette butt into dry grass but when you consider how little regard smokers have for their own health, it is little wonder a small thing like starting a fire is of no concern.

If you see someone tossing a butt from their car, note their license plate and report them to police. Smokers in general seem to have little regard for the concept of not littering, have you ever noticed how many butts litter the ground, right beside an ashtray?
