Chevron Gas Bar Robbery - May 22/16


Police investigating robbery of local gas bar

The Nanaimo RCMP is investigating a robbery of a Chevron gas bar which occurred at approximately 5:25 pm on Sunday May 22nd. The Chevron is located at the intersection of Norwell Drive and Highway 19a.

Police responded to a 911 call from the clerk who told investigators a lone male entered the business and demanded money from the till. When the money was handed over he left on foot and was last seen running southbound on Corona Ave. Officers assisted by Police Dog Services attended but was unable to locate the suspect.

The male suspect did not produce a weapon. The clerk was not injured but was left shaken by the ordeal. RCMP Victim Services was contacted and will be following up with the clerk. The suspect is a white male, mid-twenties, 5 ft. 7 and was wearing a black hoodie with an "Underarmour" logo on the front, grey pants and black shoes.
