Dale Schulz - Nanaimo - 'As He Sees It' - May 20/16

This is the third in what I know will be a welcome addition to Nanaimo Info Blog.

Lifelong Nanaimo resident, professional artist and illustrator Dale Schulz 'sees' much of Nanaimo many of us simply walk by without giving a second thought.

Through the eyes of an artist the everyday can become almost magical and with a few simple photos of his daily walks, Dale captures and shares some of that magic on his Facebook page.

The following is the most recent example of what Dale sees when he walks about our lovely seaside community many of us just take for granted.

Dale's Post - May 20/16

It was a quick stroll through Harewood for me and Indy today. The rain started and Indy got less and less interested in walking. We did get a few shots though!

First some Red Hot Pokers on the corner of Park Avenue and Deering Street; and a nice little garden on Murray Street. We cut through the parking lot of the old Harewood COOP and I noticed that demolition has begun on the old warehouses. No pictures of that - sorry.

On Georgia Avenue I took a shot of the little pink shed that I like and on Howard Avenue noticed a ‪#‎signofinfinity‬ - this symbol has been in my head a lot lately and I've actively started seeking them out on my walks. This is number one.

We stopped for a bit at University Village (Harewood Mall) were I got a cute picture of a damp and dishevelled Indy! After walking up to Fourth Street we turned for home and on Winchester Avenue took a shot of a bird condo in the 'Village of Retlaw'.

The two shots of fences and greenery were shot in the alley between Winchester and Hamilton Avenues, the first one just off Dundas Street.

  1. I always look forward to Dale's posts on his Facebook page. I'm enthralled with his perception of Nanaimo. He inspires me to get out and look at things from a closer perspective. I'm thrilled others will share in this incredibly talented artist.
