Dale Schulz - Nanaimo - "As He Sees It" - May 23/16

This is the fifth in what I know will be a welcome addition to Nanaimo Info Blog.

Lifelong Nanaimo resident, professional artist and illustrator Dale Schulz 'sees' much of Nanaimo many of us simply walk by without giving a second thought.

Through the eyes of an artist the everyday can become almost magical and with a few simple photos of his daily walks, Dale captures and shares some of that magic on his Facebook page.

The following is the most recent example of what Dale sees when he walks about our lovely seaside community many of us just take for granted.

Dale's Post - May 23/16

Here are photos from a walk this morning with Indy and then a walk this afternoon with Indy, Dyan and our visitors from Victoria - my buddy John and his lovely dog Izzy.

First thing today, Indy and I walked through the South End into Downtown - we crossed the tracks between Railway Avenue and Columbia Avenue where I took a shot of California Poppies growing near the rails.

On Esplanade I shot two of my favourite old pieces of machinery - a couple old cranes in work yard - heavily overgrown.

On Commercial Street we saw a little action - there were a couple firetrucks dealing with what must have been a pretty small fire - I think at Koma Restaurant.

Last shot from that walk is a selfie that Indy and I took on Victoria Crescent using a window as a mirror.
From our walk this afternoon: Dyan, Izzy and Indy at Maffeo Sutton Park; The inimitable Willy Thunder at Georgia Park; Foliage on Cameron Island; and last - John and Izzy relaxing at our house after our walk.
