Dale Schulz NANAIMO - 'As he sees it' - July 5/16

Lifelong Nanaimo resident, professional artist and illustrator Dale Schulz 'sees' much of Nanaimo many of us simply walk by without giving a second thought.

Through the eyes of an artist the everyday can become almost magical and with a few simple photos of his daily walks, Dale captures and shares some of that magic on his Facebook page.

The following is the most recent example of what Dale sees when he walks about our lovely seaside community many of us just take for granted.

Dale's Post - July 5/16

Here are our photos from today's walk. Indy actually got into 3 photos today! The first shot is Indy visiting with his buddy Mo - I think they both just saw a squirrel - on Winchester Avenue.

Next photo is what remains of one of my favourite subjects - the 'leaning shed' on 5th Street in Harewood. It's a shame that it was razed, but was just a matter of time.

I took a couple shots on Fitzwilliam Street in the Old City Quarter - the first is the Teak Store on Fitz and Selby Street - this is a nice old building - and is that an ‪#‎abandonedchair‬ up there? LOL nope, just a sample of their furniture. Also on Fitz I took a picture of the old paint on the Vietnamese Restaurant contrasting with the new paint next door.

I took a photo of threatening skies at the harbour, the Lighthouse Bistro and Black Frank while on the waterfront and at Maffeo Sutton Park - plus two of Indy with 'The Frame' and flowers in the planters and forgotten beach tools at Swy-a-Lana Lagoon.

The last shot is one of my favourite views on our walk - from the top of Albert Street looking into South Harewood. The arrow tells me 'Right Into Harewood'. - and home.
