I realize it is just me, and that the rest of Nanaimo delights in our annual festivals and events, especially those ones that 'put heads in beds', giving the local economy a real boost.
I, however, have been taking pictures and covering these events since 2007 when I started this blog, and I must say I can't quite get Sonny and Cher out of my head right now. If you don't remember it was their tune 'I've got you babe' that was playing on Bill Murray's alarm clock every time he woke up to relive the same day over and over and over.
In case you are new here, the summer 'Groundhog Day' themed events goes like this:
- Canada Day
- Dragon Boats
- Silly Boats
- Tub Race
- VIEX
- Bupkis until next year
Every now and then we hear some rumbles from different corners about some new thing in the works to attract those precious tourist dollars, it usually has something to do with Newcastle Island or Nanaimo Bars.
Now, you will have to pardon me as I set my clock/radio for 6:00 am ..... can you hear it??
