Burns Bog Fire Closes Part Of Hwy 17
This Huffpost article reports police, provincial firefighters and BC Wildfire Service have joined forces to fight a fire burning in the 30 sq. kilometre nature reserve.
The bog is one of the largest peat bogs in North America and can burn underground a long way and then pop up somewhere else making it a very difficult fire to control.

In 2005 a blaze in the bog broke out and took 11 days to be finally put out.
